Native to the Mediterranean and Western Asia, Myrtle grows from evergreen shrubs that produce fragrant pink and white flowers. It has sharp, pointed leaves and a reddish-brown bark. Myrtle essential oil is derived from the leaves and fruit of the plant through a steam distillation method.
