Wintergreen oil helps with aching muscles and joints, promotes relaxation and supports a healthy emotional balance. Wintergreen also is one of the most effective essential oils in relieving physical pain.
 
Very similar to Birch essential oil, Wintergreen is 99.5% methyl salicate, a type of ester. Therefore, Wintergreen is one of the best essential oils for pain, having a similar chemical breakdown of aspirin. 
 
Native to North America, Wintergreen grows up to 6 inches and has deep-green leathery leaves that sprout small white flowers and develop into red fruit. The leaves are put through a steam distillation to extract the essential oil.
 
Safety: Do not use this essential oil if you are on blood thinners, pregnant or trying to get pregnant, of on anyone under 14 years of age.
